Feasibility of a hip flexion feedback system for controlling exercise intensity and tibia axial peak accelerations during treadmill walking

چکیده

The ability to meet high exercise intensities is limited by the increased risk of injury in some clinical populations. Previous studies have linked large tibia peak positive accelerations resulting from running developing lower-extremity injury. purpose this study determine feasibility using a hip flexion feedback system (HFFS) and maintain different while maintaining low axial accelerations. Ten healthy participants were tested on HFFS test an independent walking/running 40% 60% heart rate reserve (HRR). During test, controlled real time intensity directing individuals specific maximum targets during walking providing visual information that assists them initial contact phase. Maximum are calculated based real-time readings participant’s rate. was independently participant treadmill speed. Compared at HRR resulted similar heart-rate error but lower No differences observed for intensity. This paper describes novel approach uses individual’s calculate maximal individual should walking. also provides acceleration cues. Therefore, can increase control In particular, might be alternative strategy moderate vigorous populations injuries.

Oxygen cost during treadmill walking with hip and knee immobilised.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of immobilising the knee and hip on the oxygen cost (ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)) to velocity relationship during treadmill walking. The study was a prospective experimental conducted in a Rehabilitation centre. Ten healthy individuals, five men and five women, with no gait abnormality participated. Following familiarisation five men and five women walked...

Peak cardiorespiratory responses during aquatic and land treadmill exercise.

PURPOSE Aquatic treadmill exercise has traditionally been used for aerobic training during rehabilitation; however, its ability to elicit comparable cardiorespiratory stress compared with land exercise is unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the cardiorespiratory (CR) responses elicited during maximal-effort protocols using an aquatic treadmill (ATM) and a land treadmill (TM). ...

Kinematics of Hip, Knee and Ankle During Cross- Slope Walking

Purpose: Little information is available on joint kinematic adaptations during walking on cross-slope surfaces (i.e. a surface incline perpendicular to the direction of locomotion). This study aimed to evaluate the effects of cross-slope surfaces on three-dimensional (3D) kinematics of hip, knee, and ankle joints during stance phase of walking.  Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Analysis of Peak Oxygen Consumption and Heart Rate During Elliptical and Treadmill Exercise

Objective: To compare peak oxygen consumption (VO2) and heart rate (HR) during treadmill (TM) running and exercise on an elliptical trainer (ET). Design: A graded exercise test (GXT) during TM running and ET exercise. Participants: Physically active college students (N = 14; 25 ± 4.6 years). Each completed a TM GXT and ET GXT on separate days. Results: There were no differences in either VO2pea...
